Blephilia hirsuta - Hairy Wood Mint - 38 Plug Tray

Hairy wood mint is an attractive mint suited to moist soils and light shade. It spreads by rhizomes to form dense colonies of single-stemmed or minimally branched individuals with oppositely arranged pairs of oval to lance-shaped leaves. The stems are covered in thick white hairs as are the clusters of white flowers arranged in vertically stacked rings along its flowering spikes, lending to its showy appearance. These flowers are visited by a huge variety of pollinators such as various groups of bees, flies, and butterflies. The leaves of hairy wood mint emit a light fragrance when crushed, and are generally not preferred by deer or other mammalian herbivores.
