Shipping
What do you ship?
We offer shipping on all of our herbaceous material in 38-plug tray quantities or 3’’ pots. We do not yet offer shipping on plants grown in gallon pots or larger at this time. We prioritize shipping fully rooted plants. Depending upon the species and time of year, plants may be trimmed back to better fit into the box. Please note, proper pruning does not negatively impact the health of the plant, pruning encourages new growth.Â
Plants are occasionally shipped in a dormant state depending on the species and time of year. Plants in this state may have no signs of growth above the soil but the roots are healthy and ready to grow once planted.
When do you ship?
Spring shipping begins in May once plants are fully rooted. Orders are shipped on a first come, first served basis. If you need your plants by a specific deadline please let us know and we will do our best to accommodate; please specify in the 'SPECIAL INSTRUCTIONS' section at checkout or send an email to shipping.newleaf@gmail.com.
When your plants have shipped you will receive an email with tracking information. Orders typically take 1-5 days in transit to arrive at their destination from our nursery in Manchester, Michigan.Â
Please note that orders are not shipped until all species in the order are fully rooted and ready for sale. If your order contains plants with a range of available dates, your order will ship at the latest available date when all plants are rooted and ready to go. Please place separate orders if you need to receive certain plants sooner than others.
We ship through mid-November and typically make a public announcement for our last shipping date of the season (weather dependent).

If you will require liftgate services, please specify in the 'SPECIAL INSTRUCTIONS' section at checkout. Additional costs will be invoiced via email.
What are our shipping rates?
Our online ordering system is connected directly to our carrier accounts and calculates shipping rates at the time of checkout. Our system automatically calculates the most efficient packaging systems to ensure the best rates possible for both ground and freight.
We are happy to get a shipping cost quote to you if you are interested in placing an order but are not ready to proceed with the order online.Â
What to expect when my order arrives?
Your plants will be securely packaged to protect them during transit. They may shift slightly during shipping, but this won’t harm their viability. We specialize in growing native plants, focusing on strong, healthy root systems. Every plant is unique, and appearance changes through out the season.
We recommend unpacking your plants immediately upon arrival and watering them if the soil feels dry. For best results, plant them as soon as possible and follow proper care instructions.
Feel free to reach out with any questions or concerns, we are happy to be of assistance!
Our Shipping Standards
Our top priority is making sure that your plants arrive healthy. Depending on the species and time of year, plants may be trimmed back to better fit into the box. Please note, proper pruning does not negatively impact the health of the plant, pruning encourages new growth.Â
Plants are occasionally shipped in a dormant state depending on the species and time of year. Plants in this state may have no signs of growth above the soil but the roots are healthy and ready to grow once planted.
Boxed plants are carefully packed into our custom made boxes to ensure as little movement as possible. Any remaining open space is filled with a compostable shredded wood material which helps to keep plugs in place as well as to retain moisture. Upon arrival, plants should be removed from the box and watered as soon as possible. Each shipped order contains a Plant Care Guide that covers details of plant care.

At New Leaf Natives, we take great care to ensure that every plant we sell is healthy and well-cared for before it leaves our nursery.
If you notice any issues with your plants at the time of pickup, please let us know so we can address your concerns on site.
We specialize in growing native plants in plugs, focusing on strong, healthy root systems. Every plant is unique, and some may not look their best above ground at certain times of the year. However, a healthy root system ensures that the plant is viable and ready to thrive when planted in the right conditions.
Once plants leave our care, we cannot be held responsible for issues that may arise due to handling, planting, environmental conditions, or improper care. We recommend planting your new additions as soon as possible and following proper care instructions to give them the best start.
We’re always happy to hear any questions or concerns regarding your order. Feel free to reach out to us—we’re here to help!
