Leadplant is a beautiful shrub-like forb perfect for adding a pop of color and texture to any dry planting with full or partial sunlight. With woody stems and fifteen foot roots, it may take a few years to establish, but once it does it is an extremely resilient plant, tolerating long drought periods and even wildfires, as well as resisting herbivory from deer and rabbits. Its colorful blooms attract a staggering diversity of pollinators and its roots harbor nitrogen-fixing bacteria that improve soil quality, making it a great choice for the ecologically conscious gardener.
