Gentiana flavida - Cream Gentian - 3" Pot

Cream gentian is a slow-growing, long-lived herbaceous perennial that prefers full to part sun and well-drained soil. Light green, lance-shaped leaves clasp its roughly two foot tall, unbranched stems until they terminate in a whorl directly beneath a cluster of unique flowers. These two-inch-long, barely opened cylinders can range in color from white to yellowish to greenish. This range of color is reflected in this species’ many common names. Cream gentian typically produces its flowers earlier than other gentians, in August or September. The flowers are primarily pollinated by bumblebees because smaller pollinators lack the strength to open the petals.
