Tall coreopsis is a large, upright plant reaching heights of nine feet and spreading by self-seeding and rhizomes to form dense colonies. The tall vertical stems are clad in handsome leaves divided into three long lobes and topped with singular daisy-like flowers with rounded yellow rays and brown disks. These flowers have an impressive bloom time from summer to fall and are highly attractive to pollinators. The flowers are replaced with seeds that are a favorite for songbirds in the fall and winter. Because of its large height and spreading nature, tall coreopsis is not well-suited to small plantings.
