Prairie Indian Plantain is the shortest Indian plantain, reaching up to four feet tall. Its pale green, flat-topped flowering cluster attract a meager selection of pollinators, but its shiny, rubbery basal leaves provide plantings with a delightfully unique texture. Unlike other Indian plantain leaves which are usually lobed and toothed, the leaf shape of Prairie Indian Plantain resembles that of Broadleaf Plantain leaves. This species prefers wet to moist soils and full sun, making it an excellent choice for wet prairie plantings.
